Main Tasks:


  • Responsible for the entire reception area and the onboard shop according to Scylla/Edelweissgastro standards

  • Responsible for the correct handling of work arising daily/per cruise/monthly according to Scylla/Edelweissgastro standards

  • Responsible for guest satisfaction and the corresponding ratings

  • Responsible for the compliance with safety guidelines in the reception area

  • Responsible for customs formalities and in port manning according to the safety regulations

  • Responsible for dealing carefully with equipment and IT-systems

  • Responsible for the correct spelling of menus and displays

  • Responsible for taking orders during Welcome, Gala and Farewell Dinner

  • Responsible for the correct booking of goods, items in the system such as minibar, massage, hairdresser, beverages, laundry, etc.

  • Responsible for the separation of garbage at the reception and also to check all departments on board

  • Assist the administrative jobs from the hotel manager such as bookkeeping, order, etc.

  • On board announcements over the microphone

  • Responsible for excursions if Scylla/Edelweissgastro is in charge (order of guides, busses, etc.)

  • Preparation of inventories and orders of the reception department

  • Acceptance and control of goods delivered for the ship according the S.O.S. guidelines

  • Responsible for team-building and team spirit at the reception area and the whole ship (role model function)

  • Responsible for the working schedule of the departments

  • Responsible for the stock list of all beverages on board

  • Fair and equal treatment towards all crew on board

  • Managing, training and coaching the reception crew according to Scylla/Edelweissgastro standards.

  • Daily team briefing as well as working in of new crew

  • Support and coaching for so-called "Aufsteiger" (crewmembers on their way to management positions), in consultation with the Hotel Manager and Head Office

  • Responsible for the manner and appearance of the reception crew, including dress code during spare time on board

  • Honest and open communication with the supervisors, the corporate staff as well as the head office in Basel / Belgium and Cyprus


Qualification Profile:


  • Excellent management, organizational and communication skills

  • Guest focused, stress resistant, calm under pressure, team player and with positive appearance

  • Open minded and flexible with high social and inter-cultural competencies

  • Excellent English skills (written & verbal), other languages are an advantage

  • Must work independently, good computer skills


Additional tasks for all crew members:


  • Assistance with the welcome of guests on the day of embarkation

  • Participation in the crew show

  • Assistance with the loading of goods and suitcases

  • Keep crew mess and your own crew cabin clean

  • Thorough execution of the safety role on board

  • Your purpose is to help and create a memorable experience for our guests


General information:


  • Working hours: during the normal operation on board, the crew member will work 7 days a week and app. 70hrs

  • Accommodation: shared room on board with one other crewmember (on some ships with more than one)

  • Uniform: is provided by the company: before arrival the crewmember has to make sure to take black trousers, white shirts, black shoes with him in case the uniform isn’t on board yet
